Karl is a visual storyteller based in Canada. His work has taken him to helm projects around the world, from Norway and South Africa to India and Singapore, working with world-class production teams from firms such as Netflix and Amazon. Karl focuses on promoting stories from underrepresented voices to new audiences around the world.
Karl has helmed diverse, successful projects that have gone on to win many awards internationally including Best Picture at Dances with Films, Audience Choice for Best Feature at Canadian Film Festival, Best Picture at the National Screen Institute, among 100s of other international screenings. It is his belief that exploration of alternate (cinematic) realities is paramount to unlocking the secrets of the human mind and bring people together across artificial boundaries.
Great images make the heart bigger and the world smaller. Karl co-founded Blackout Media, an impact-driven, award winning production company based in Canada, has served as CEO of the online education platform: Pocket Film School that helps lower the barriers of entry to the film industry to people around the world.
Karl is a proud member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, IATSE and the CMPA.
